Å utforske grenser

Jeg er billedkunstner og arbeider i mediene maleri, foto og grafikk. Jeg er utdannet ved Statens håndverks- og kunstindustriskole i Oslo. Jeg har hatt en rekke separat- og kollektivutstillinger innen billedkunst og har blant annet stilt ut ved Oppland-, Akershus- og Telemark kunstnersenter, og deltatt flere ganger på Statens Høstutstilling og Østlandsutstillingen. Jeg er innkjøpt av Det Kongelige slott og Nasjonalmuseet, og har mottatt en rekke priser og statlige kunstnerstipend. Jeg er medlem av Norske Billedkunstnere og Norske Grafikere.

Mitt utgangspunkt ligger i den nonfigurative billedtradisjonen. Jeg arbeider med en undersøkelse av grenselandet mellom det figurative og det nonfigurative. I enkelte serier glir motivene over i det figurative, og da gjerne med naturen som referanse. Utgangspunktet for komposisjonene er alltid noe konkret. Jeg forsøker å skape et autentisk uttrykk som representerer det som ligger i menneskets underbevissthet både kulturelt og følelsesmessig. Uttrykket hviler på hvordan fargene klinger sammen med motivet og komposisjonen. Det er viktig for mitt uttrykk å jobbe i serier; Bildene står i dialog med hverandre og utfyller hverandre gjensidig. 

Jeg har lang pedagogisk erfaring fra formidling og undervisning innen kunstfag, dvs. innen tegning, maleri, grafikk og foto. Jeg  arbeider til daglig som assisterende rektor på Blindern videregående skole og har i flere år leder større prosjekter innen kunst og kultur med samarbeidspartnere som Oslo kommune, Oslo Met, Oslo Science City, Universitetet i Oslo, Utdanningsetaten/ DKS.

Exploring boundaries 

​

I am a visual artist and work in the mediums of painting, photography and graphics. I am educated at the Norwegian School of Handicrafts and Art Industry in Oslo. I have had a number of separate and collective exhibitions in visual art and, among other things, exhibited at the Oppland, Akershus and Telemark artists' centres, and participated several times at the Statens Høstutstillingen and Østlandsutstillingen. I have been purchased by the Royal Palace and the National Museum, and have received a number of awards and state artist grants. I am a member of Norwegian Visual Artists and Norwegian Graphic Artists.

My point of departure lies in the non-figurative pictorial tradition. I am working on an investigation of the borderland between the figurative and the non-figurative. In some series, the motifs slip into the figurative, and often with nature as a reference. The starting point for the compositions is always something concrete. I try to create an authentic expression that represents what lies in the human subconscious both culturally and emotionally. The expression rests on how the colors resonate with the subject and the composition. It is important for my expression to work in series; The images are in dialogue with each other and mutually complement each other.

I have extensive teaching experience from communication and teaching in art subjects, i.e. in drawing, painting, graphics and photography. I work on a daily basis as an assistant principal at Blindern upper secondary school and for several years have led major projects in art and culture with partners such as Oslo municipality, Oslo Met, Oslo Science City, University of Oslo, Utdanningsetaten/DKS.
