My artistic practice revolves around the boundaries between the figurative and the abstract. In my works there is a fascination for the transition between these forms of expression, where the interplay of colors with form and composition creates a subtle balance where the connection to visible reality is reduced, simplified or completely abolished.

My works often take the landscape as a point of departure, especially where land meets water, and where the sea, sky and waves create an organic interplay. Through a layer-on-layer technique with paint, I build up surfaces that I paint over again, scratch out lines and more. This gives the works a depth and tactile play that mirrors the dynamics of nature.

I am educated at the Norwegian School of Handicrafts and Art Industry in Oslo. I have exhibited at a number of artists' centers such as Oppland, Akershus and Telemark artists' centre, as well as participated several times at the Statens Høstutstillingen and Østlandsutstillingen. My works have been purchased by, among others, the Royal Palace and the National Museum, and I have received several awards and state artist grants.

In addition to my artistic career, I have extensive educational experience in the field of art communication, where I have led larger projects in collaboration with, among others, the Norwegian Education Agency in Oslo/DKS, Oslo Met, Oslo Science City and Kulturtanken.

I am a member of Norwegian Visual Artists and Norwegian Graphic Artists. Tonje Røseth
